Frequently Asked Questions

What Speed can be expected?

With LTE being a wireless technology influenced by many factors it can therefore not guarantee a consistent speed. As of the nature of any wireless form of communication, we cannot offer any Service-Level Agreements (SLAs) on any of our LTE services.

Depending on network constraints and factors – you will experience your selected package line speeds to the fullest enjoying a connection without the hassle of any cables.

How long will it take to get me connected?

This will depend on the turnaround for your activation. Once a Coverage check has been done for your premises it can take up to 7 days to for us to complete your registration. As soon as your Real LTE connection is activated you’ll be ready for internet.

Are there uncapped packages?

Currently all our Real LTE packages has a Fair Usage Policy (FUP).

Once the amount of data has been depleted in the given month, the line speed will be reduced to a maximum of 2mbps for the remainder of the given month.

Can Real LTE packages be upgraded or downgraded?

All Real LTE packages can be upgraded or downgraded.

Please note however that package changes will only be in effect on the 1st of the following month, regardless of when in the month the upgrade or downgrade request is made. This is a restriction from our LTE provider.

Is the Fixed LTE prioritized on the tower?

Real LTE is specifically based on the capacity and network availability, you will be sharing the network with Mobile Data subscribers with the Fixed LTE coverage area, however you won’t be effected by congestion issues.

What happens if I cancel my LTE?

A calendar month’s notice is required for the cancellation to be effective.

Is this a contracted service?
All our Real LTE packages are currently only available as a month-to-month basis.
What if my area isn’t covered by Real LTE?

Does data roll over at the end of the month?

Unused Any-Time Data from one month is rolled over until the end of the following month.
Any-Time Data allocated on all our Real LTE packages can be used at any time of any day.

Can Real LTE be moved to other locations?

Real LTE is a service designed to be used at your home or office and is locked to a location provided on the application form.

Quick Real LTE technicalities

General terms

  • The installation and activation fees are prescribed by the network operators – even if and notwithstanding that the service is ordered directly with Air Broadband (Pty) Ltd.
  • Coverage data is reliant on maps provided to us by our LTE provider, this may sometimes contain slight inaccuracies.

LTE Service:

  • Real LTE is a Best Effort advanced Fixed LTE service.
    • Real LTE is a Capped Any-Time Data or Uncapped data 24 hours per day, subject to the Fair Usage policy.
  • Moving the SIM card to a different geographic location, the SIM card will be soft locked. The customer will need to contact Air Broadband Support team to request that the SIM card be unlocked.
  • The Mobile Network Operator may, at its discretion, implement traffic management rules which prioritize real-time traffic, such as, for example, video streaming or browsing, over non-real-time traffic like torrents or large file downloads, during busy periods.
  • Any-Time Data allocation can be used at any time of any day.
    • Unused Any-Time Data from one month is rolled over until the end of the following month.
    • Data speeds may be reduced during busy or peak network times.
  • The Fair Usage Policy applies on the Uncapped LTE Service, whereby on the first day of each calendar month, specified amount of data will be made available to the Customer in respect of their Uncapped Subscription
  • Once the Specified amoun bundle for a particular month has been depleted, Air Broadband shall be entitled to without prior notice to the Customer
    • reduce the line speed to a maximum 2mbps for the remainder of that month
    • reduce Peer to Peer and NNTP protocols to a maximum line speed of 128Kbps.

Equipment

  • During the order process, the Customer must specify a delivery address for delivery of the Equipment by Air Broadband’s nominated courier.
  • Should the first delivery attempt fail due to the absence or negligence of the Customer, the courier will reattempt the delivery, and the Customer account will be billed the addtional delivery fee.
  • If a Customer purchases an LTE router outright, the LTE router becomes the Customer’s property and cannot be returned to Air Broadband unless deemed to be an OBF (Out of Box Failure).

Cancellation

  • Suspension of services due to non-payment or outstanding funds may be performed without notice to the customer.
  • If services are suspended, a reconnection fee of R150 will be applicable.
  • Customer must give a 1 (one) clear calendar month notice of their intention to cancel the Service, wher 1 (one) clear calendar month means that:
    • any cancellation notice received before the first day of a month will take effect on the last day of that  month.
    • if a cancellation is received on the first day of a month, the cancellation will only be effective on the last day of the following month.
  • Cancellations must be sent to Air Broadband in writing to cancellations@airbroadband.co.za

Resale of the Real LTE service

  • Except where the Customer has obtained all the regulatory approvals and have entered into a resoller agreement with Air Broadband, the resale of the Real LTE service and Failover Service is not permitted.

Package Shaping and Prioritsation

  • Real LTE packages have a contention ratio of 1:20.
  • All Real LTE packages are uncapped, unshaped and unthrottled – All Real LTE will have no shaping or throttling applied.
  • Speeds and approximates are subject to network performance, connected users/devices and service status.
