What Speed Should I Choose?

1 Mbps – 5 Mbps: This is a good option for low bandwidth applications, streaming SD movies and moderate small downloads. The ideal for a small-active family.

7 Mbps – 10 Mbps: A good option for media rich bandwidth applications! Streaming HD movies and with fast downloads. The ideal package for streaming content.

How long will it take to get me connected?

This will depend on the turnaround for your installation and activation. Once a Site Survey has been done at your premises it can take up to 5 days to for us to  complete your installation. As soon as your Wireless connection is installed you’ll be activated in ready for internet.

Are there uncapped packages?

Yes of course!, all our Real Wireless packages are uncapped 24 hours a day.

Is Real Wireless the same as Wi-Fi?

Wi-Fi is mainly aimed at local area use, primarily indoors, this is what connects your Wi-Fi enabled devices such as phones, tablets or laptops to the internet.

Wireless or Fixed Wireless is a system for outdoor use that is optimized for longer range. This allows ISPs to provide a service around a certain area without the need to implement any high installations costs for cabling or trenching.

Can Real Wireless handle streaming and gaming?

Customer can expect the capability to stream or do some gaming online. However this is not a guarantee to our Real Wireless Customers.

There are several factors that may impact your experience on streaming or gaming online, this is mostly based on the chosen package and how strong your signal levels are towards our tower.

What happens if I cancel my Real Wireless?

Depending on the quotation, your Real Wireless equipment will be removed from the premises, on the last day of a months notice.

Is this a contracted service?
We do have available options for a 24 Month contract as well as month to month!
What if my area isn’t covered by Real Wireless?

Get in touch with us and we can let you know what other options will be available for your area and we will keep you informed of any updates.

Will weather affect the Real Wireless service?

There are serveral factors that may impact service quality, including weather and physical obstructions.

Objects blocking the dish (CPE) from the surrounding area may interfere with the signal strength and may significantly reduce the quality of you internet connection – especially with inclement weather.

Can Real Wireless be upgraded or downgraded?

All Real Wireless packages can be upgraded or downgraded.

Package changes can be in effect on the 1st of the following month or can be performed at any time upon immediate effect with a pro-rata rate charged.

Please note however downgrades will not be accepted within the first 6 (six) months of activation.

Quick Real Wireless technicalities

General terms

  • Real Wireless is a Best Effort Wireless service.
  • All Real Wirelss packages are Uncapped data 24 hours per day and is subject to the Fair Usage Policy.

Installation

  • Real Wireless requires a full LOS (Line-of-Sight) test before any installtion can occur. All Real Wireless installations will include a dish (CPE) and a free to use Wi-Fi router.
    • If a nonstandard installation, re-installation or any move of equipment is required, the Customer shall be responsible for the costs of any facilities, extra cabling, additional move of the equipment and other expenses that is necessary to install the Real Wireless dish (CPE). Such costs shall be charged by Air broadband directly to the Customer.
  • Line activation and connection times are dependent on signup leadtime.
  • You will be charged the applicable installation fee for the relevant Real Wireless package during signup.
    • Any Real Wireless signup will be charged R1750.00 for installation.

Package Shaping and Prioritsation

  • Real Wireless packages have a contention ratio of 1:20.
  • All Real Wireless packages are uncapped, unshaped and unthrottled – All Real Wireless will have no shaping or throttling applied.
  • Speeds and approximates are subject to network performance, connected users/devices and service status.

Equipment

  • Equipment will be provisioned with a standard configuration in respect of the ordered service.
  • Equipment remains the property of Air broadband.
    • If a Customer purchases equipment including but not limited to Wi-Fi routers, wireless bridge equipment, etc. the equipment becomes the Customer’s property and cannot be returned to Air Broadband unless deemed to be an OBF (Out of box Failure).
  • The standard Wi-Fi router is intended for small properties of around 100 square metres.
  • Air Broadband (Pty) Ltd does not provider any assistance with certain methods in extending Wi-Fi coverage, namely but not limited to; Wi-Fi repeaters or Range extenders.

Cancellation

  • Suspension of services due to non-payment or outstanding funds may be performed without notice to the customer.
  • If services are suspended, a reconnection fee of R150 will be applicable.
  • Customer must give a 1 (one) clear calendar month notice of their intention to cancel the Service, wher 1 (one) clear calendar month means that:
    • any cancellation notice received before the first day of a month will take effect on the last day of that  month.
    • if a cancellation is received on the first day of a month, the cancellation will only be effective on the last day of the following month.
  • Cancellations must be sent to Air Broadband in writing to cancellations@airbroadband.co.za
